Reva

Revai(i for intelligent it seems or is it idiot?) now starts at 2.49 Lakhs, which is a fantastic deal, such a fabulous car with such a mindblowing V8 engine is surely going to be fun to drive. *

* Yeah right, i dont mean a single word i say.

If Maini, the company who manufacturers Reva thinks they are smart, then they should know they are not, what they are trying to do is fool people by advertising so stupidly, i mean whats the deal in saying the price is 2.49 Lakhs, and writing in small letters battery, insurance, watering kit, charge point installation and registration not included, making the price go all the way to 4.00 Lakhs.

Its like saying BMW M5 for 20 Lakhs and engine, dashboard, electronics not included.

First and foremost the Reva is highly overpriced, for what it offers, its a very basic car(if you can call it a car that is, its a cyle with two extra wheels), with almost zero head or leg room. Next it runs on a couple of AA sized battery which gives it a top speed of 65kmph, heck even a 100cc bike will overtake this notsofast car. Whats the point in a person buying a Reva? Fuel Efficiency.

People think thats since this car hardly takes any money to run, its a fantastic car, but no, it certainly is not. Factor in other important aspects and you will know why. Firstly batteries need to be changed every 2 years, which cost roughly around 40k. And secondly and most importanly, you buy a Reva, so you think you can save some money on fuel, but you do save some money on fuel, yes you do, but you lose time as this car is capable of a top speed of 65kmph on a downhill slope with the help of gravity. And time is money. Trips which take x time now take 3x time. And wait, you cant use the aircon, cause that will wear the battery down, you cant use the wiper, the heater, the indicator, or anything else, since that will wear the battery out. And i havent yet reached upon the safety this car offers(Euro NCAP Minus 5 rating maybe).

This car in short is something which is not needed, atleast at the price point it sells, if i wanna shell out some 4.7 Lakhs(Highest variant of Reva) then i would be better of buying a Palio Diesel, a Indica Diesel or heck i would make a better car myself. Enuf said, Reva better gets it act together and stop thinking that its a Prius.
